ISO/TC 213/AG 1 - Strategic planning

Task:

Supervision of the work programme with due respect to the current and future needs of the user community and the ISO/TR 14638 "Geometrical product specifications (GPS) - Masterplan" with the aim of:

ISO/TC 213/AG 1 is responsible for preparation of criteria for evaluation of the suitability of potential New Work items with the Masterplan and the continuous updating of ISO/TR 14638.

ISO/TC 213 shall be chaired by a Convener appointed by ISO/TC 213 with the participation of the secretariat of ISO/TC 213 and members appointed by ISO/TC 213.

Convener:

Dr. Henrik S. Nielsen

Members appointed by ISO/TC 213 plenary session:

Mr. Johan Dovmark
Mr. Hiroshi Kuwada
Mr. Fred Parsons
Mr. John Westberg
Prof. Peter H. Osanna
Dr. Paul J. Scott
Mr. Georg Henzold

ISO/TC 213/AG 2 - Final Auditing Standard Team (FAST)

Task:

Review all draft standards during drafting and before submission to CD-, DIS- and FDIS-ballots, with increasing stringency from drafts to FDIS. The review shall ensure consistency of the:

The review shall also confirm that drafts fit into the GPS matrix model according to ISO/TR 14638:1995.

The secretariat of ISO/TC 213 is responsible for the submission of drafts for review. Any review shall be finalized within 2 months after received. The review can be carried out by meetings or by correspondence. Reviews shall be conducted by AG2. The Convener and / or the Project Leader responsible for the draft shall participate in the review

In the case where radical changes are deemed necessary by FAST according to the above, the drafts shall be returned to the ISO/TC 213 for revision or to the appropriate Convener/Project Leader with the request of:

  1. confirming the proposed modifications and correcting the Master-Version

  2. providing answers to questions/concerns raised by FAST to be solved during the ISO/DIS enquiry or before final publication.

Where there are no radical changes deemed necessary AG2 FAST will return the document to Convener and / or the Project Leader responsible for the draft for further processing with or without working group approval (by correspondence or at the next meeting).

In order to ensure the steady progress of ISO/TC 213 Drafts, FAST shall provide as soon as possible an updated project leader guidelines for the preparation of GPS standards.

All FAST reviews shall ensure:

  1. that no standard repeats requirements contained in other standards.

  2. that all tolerancing and other graphic examples in GPS standards shall be relevant, consistent with the text, and accompanied by a clear written explanation.

  3. that all information on default conditions and special drawing indication symbols are contained in chain link 1 & 2 standards of ISO/TR 14638.

Convener

ISO/TC 213/AG 12 - Mathematical support group

Task:

To classify the different type of partitions within the GPS system compatible with the definition of partition within ISO 17450-1 clause 3.21:

partition
operation used to identify bounded feature(s) from non-ideal feature(s) or from ideal feature(s)

A non-exhaustive list includes: partitioning of nominal model, partitioning of skin model, partitioning of real surface, segmentation…

  1. To investigate definitions/algorithms/approaches for the different types of partitions, particularly the partitioning of the real surface, between the following non-exhaustive list of feature types: plane, sphere, cylinder, cones…
  2. To classify the different type of “feature continuities”, to search scientific literature to determine the “state-of-the-art” and find possible definitions/algorithms/approaches on how to partition the identified cases of: corners, edges, blending radii, surface discontinuities (steps within features and between features) etc.

To take into account the work already carried out in ISO TC/213 AG11 and reported in:

Convener

Prof. Paul J. Scott

ISO/TC 213/AG 13 - Analysis of interdependence of specifications with respect to product function, verification and testing

Task:

To prepare a basis for ISO/TC 213 to decide whether a standard on classification of requirements and additional information is desirable and to mature a working paper to the stage where it would be ready
for submission as a New Work Item Proposal. This work should include:

- To give recommendations to identify the importance of characteristics of geometrical features of a part corresponding to the intended function.
- To provide tools for determining the level of importance and interdependency.
- To know/estimate what makes the function fail/work.
- To ensure means of communicating this knowledge/estimate.

Convener

Mr. Johan Dovmark
